How Content Marketing Must Be A Part of Your SEO Plan

With updates like Penguin and Panda and then the value of low quality links sinking, content in your SEO plan has increased dramatically. With each update from Google, content marketing is going to be even more important. We all know that the content on your website must be perfect if you want to rank in the search engines, but with the new way in which search engines are ranking websites, content you place on other mediums across the net will weigh heavily on your ranking as well.
Google has always pushed for quality content in order to rank in their search engine and with their new updates; it may be even closer than you might think.
The first step in marketing is always to get your strategy in place. You need to plan your content marketing just as you would any type of marketing plan, which includes learning the content types and the mediums you will use. The best SEO plan will include content marketing along with all of your other marketing plans such as email marketing or advertising.
Content Types
Within your content marketing plan, you should include such content types as posts on your own blogs, guest posts on relevant blogs, press release submission, and video to name the most popular.
Mediums
Of course, you know you can use your own blog, relevant blogs, press release submission websites, article directory websites, and YouTube. There are other mediums that blend well with each of these and will increase your traffic and give you more authority in your “niche”. Two of the most important are Facebook and Twitter with the reason being once someone likes or shares your content more people will see the content which will give it more authority in the search engines as well as having name that is interested in your niche that can be added to your email marketing plan.
Putting it all together
All of your content can now be linked together at least under your name on Google’s search engine results page known as Google Authorship. Google Authorship will help increase your click through rate by connecting all of your mediums into the search engine under your name as the author. With this new technology, those looking for a specific author will not have any trouble at all finding the author along with a photo and all the articles they have published online. This not only helps the surfer, but also the author, as their content will be seen by more fans and shared throughout the various media outlets such as Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.

One of the best ways to implement your strategies is by hiring a team or individuals that have experience in Search Engine Optimization as they stay on top of all the updates handed down from the search engines especially Google. I have heard of content marketing but never thought that it would be important in google terms. I guest post to gain more visibility for my site and also promote my freelancing career but then never thought about it this way at all.
