3 Tips for Creating Memorable, Reference-Worthy Content
Since the beginning Google has placed a high regard for well-written, well-researched, and informative content for the search engine users’ benefit. For the part of the webmasters and website owners, they need to produce excellent content if they wish to remain visible in the SERPs. Plus, with the intro of the Panda and Penguin, it is essential to have excellent content and invite the possibility of getting linked by higher-ranking websites and well-known authorities.
So, here are three tips on how you can make your articles stand out and be referenced:
1. Make It Valuable
Learn how to write content that people want to read. If you want other websites to refer their readers to your articles and other content, give them very good reasons to do so.
Make sure your articles contain information readers want to know about. Any excellent writer will be able to write about any topic if they research well, but it is always best to write about topics and fields wherein you are an authority in. Don’t just sound smart, but be smart in the niche you’re writing about.
2. Edit Your Work More than Once
Never submit/publish your work without editing it first. Furthermore, go over articles and check for errors more than once. This way you can be certain there are no spelling, grammatical, or factual mistakes in your work. Always remember that errors stick out like a sore thumb or like a single black dot in a sheet of white paper—and while that does make your articles memorable, it’s not going to be worthy of reference at all.
3. Think About Presentation
To make an article or website content memorable, you also need to think about presentation. Look at infographics, for example. They have become an important aspect of SEO services and not without reason! They are after all shared more rampantly and widely than plain articles. Content-wise, infographics (those made by reliable sources anyway) contain so much information about specific topics. Each bit of info is presented trivia-like and supplemented with images, diagrams, and other visual presentation. They look like posters but still as information-rich as a long-winded academic article.
Use images to emphasize a point and to prevent your readers from glossing over a long page filled with only text. Use numbers and bullet points, and keep the discussions per item short. The attractiveness of the website layout also counts.
Why do you need to make your content memorable and valuable? Because other people, especially bloggers and webmasters, would be encouraged to use your published content as references for their own related articles. References would mean backlinks; when an authority blog or website decides to reference your work that would be a boon for yours or your client’s website’s link profile. More than that, you will be earning a reputation as a very good and reliable writer whose work will be worth watching out for—and of course, also worth paying for.
